The 2.4 mm connector is a screw-on precision connector with a 50 ohm impedance that can operate at up to 50 GHz. Satellites, test & measurement, and radars all employ the 2.4 mm connections, which are standardized according to IEC 61169-40. Mechanically, the connections and 1.85 mm connectors are interchangeable. They resemble SMA and 3.5 mm connections in appearance, but they require precise adapters to connect to SMA, 3.5mm, and 2.92mm. Traditional SMA and 2.9 mm connections contain a thick outside conductor, whereas 2.4 mm connectors are more durable.
